ASPECTS is a computer-based assessment for students aged 3-4. It is based on a fun and interesting story and carried out on a one-to-one basis with the child. The supervising adult records whether the child's responses are correct or incorrect using the mouse.
Questions cover early reading, early math and phonological awareness. There are also optional assessments for motor development and personal, social and emotional development (PSED).
You assess the children when they start in the nursery and again just before they leave, which will provide valuable information about their progress while in the nursery. In recognition that a child’s nursery time can last up to 18 months, our assessment window runs from 1 August up until 31 December the following year. This means the start-of-year testing for 2042-25 is available from 1 August 2024 and you need to complete your end-of-year test before 31 December 2025.
ASPECTS is currently part of the PIPS suite of assessments, and you can access it through the PIPS+ website.
