Unlike our early years primary assessments (Aspects for 3-4 year olds and Base for 4-5 year olds), CPI can be used over multiple year groups and follow a child through years 1-6 with reports showing progress year on year. Base and Aspects cover only 1 year group and, because they are separate products, there is no official progress measure between the two. Therefore, an 'in year' progress measure in the form of an End of Year Follow Up Assessment deals with that. Also, because Incas/CPI can be done at any point in the assessment window, it provides schools with more flexibility around when they assess their students.
